We suddenly noticed today, that Freya hasn't been hiding on top of the kitchen cupoards anymore. Before today, she'd have her breakfast, and then throughout the day, if ever you wondered where she was, you could be sure to find her on top of the dusty cupboards in the kitchen!
Still, I'm sure she dusted while she was up there...
Now she spends most of the day hanging out with us in the lounge.

Hi, we have a new cat and she always hides on top of the kitchen cupboards, should we try to get her down and block of the space or leave her to come out on her own?? how long do you think it would take her to come out on her own/
Cats always like high up places, as they're safe, and warm, and they can look around safely. Leave her up there if it's safe for her, she feels secure, and she can watch you to decide if your friend or foe. She'll probably come down for food anyway, and maybe go back up again.
I shouldn't worry less than a week - it may take that long for her to get used to her. Offer her lots of treats too like cat biscuits one at a time, now and then, and she'll learn that seeing you is GOOD news! :-) Good luck, and let us know how you get on
